System restore finds it possible to work this way as a result of it ability to create a "restore point" any time any major event takes place on your computer, and this restore point involves saving the windows registry as a file before any reasonable change is made on your computer. In which your OS uses to reset your computer to the previously best working state.Your computer might begin to malfunction as a result of a windows update installation or an installation of a potentially harmful application on your computers.

   Steps for performing a system restore
The following are the steps for perform a system restore:
  • Click the Windows Button and open the Task Menu.
  • On the Task Menu search bar type the word "System" and hit the Enter or Return Button.
  • On the top right side of system window click the "advanced System settings"  menu.
  • On your "System Properties" window top tab click on the  "System protection" tab.
  • In your System Protection tab click on the "System Restore" button to begin the restore process.
  • And then follow the on Screen instruction prompt till you  hit the Finish button.

That is just it. Now your computers will reboot itself and then notify you when the system restore is completed. If this does not resolve the problem you can consider backing up your important files in an external drive or partitioning your current drive into two partitions for files backup and then perform a clean hard disk formatting or formatting the specific partition the drive is stored.
