The Zambezi River is  a home to one or two most important spiritual shrines which holds  and plays a unique role in the life of the locals living within the and  around the Zambezi River such as the spiritual shrine of
“Nyami-Nyami” Shrine.
The people living in communities closer to the Zambezi River have always had a unique attachment to the river. They believe that the “River of Life” is guided by water spirit known as “Nyami-Nyami”. The spirit is believed to be responsible for flooding as well as controlling the proper flow of water. From time to time they would engage themselves in making sacrifices to appease the spirit. Although in recent time these religious practice is fading away in favor of more civilized ideology.
“Kuo-mboka” Ritual.
Some communities closer to the bank of Zambezi River are prone to flooding. Meanwhile some sections of the rivers are uninhabited. The people of those communities usually perform a local ceremony known as the “Kuo-mboka” before they move to the higher grounds in the area.
In summary the Zambezi River is such a great river for one reason if not more for the fact that it is the base and home to one of the 7 wonders of the world, hopefully that is the great “Victoria water falls” which is rated as the biggest water fall in the world.
